I’d recently gotten in touch with someone on my course (who has just graduated!!! Well done!) who’d done an amazing wedding-style shoot, and I wanted to work with him. Fortunately, he wanted to work with me as well, and has a friend who is a model/make up artist. We got to planning a shoot!
We’d planned on shooting on Predannack Airfield, which according to Google has old rusting planes… when we got there, it was padlocked up, nice. We then went on a nice road-trip hunting for an abandoned place.
We ended up entering the construction site in which barn conversions were going on. They were more than happy for us to shoot in a storage/yet-to-be-converted building!
Once we got down to shooting, it was really interesting to see how differently Michael and I directed our model, Lauren (it did get confusing with two Lauren’s!). He was more directing – he knew what he wanted, knew which shots and angles he wanted to get. I feel I was more documenting the experience, trying to get less posed shots. Michael gave good instructions, he knew what would look good, whereas I went along with Lauren did (I’d never worked with a model before!) and took a different take on it.
Both are fine ways to approach a model!
It was suuuch a cool experience – working alongside with someone I’d wanted to work with for a while, and working with a model!
Michael has posted a teaser shot from his collection here, go give it a like!
Here are some teasers of mine – click here to see the rest 🙂
